I recently noticed something interesting with my Launch Edition, it has a YS origin code, which usually indicates Sweden. Since we know these models were built in China, this threw me off a bit. I remembered that Polestar used Swedish origin codes on some Polestar 2s, like the BST editions, but this one left me scratching my head. What’s the story here?

The code refers to the origin of the home country manufacturer. As far as I know, Polestar is headquartered in Sweden.

Thanks for the clarification! That makes sense, Polestar’s Swedish roots would explain the YS code despite manufacturing in China..

I had the same confusion. Then someone from the inside told me this. Nothing to be concerned about, though. It is all about keeping the profitability up...

It makes sense if it's part of a profitability strategy, but it’s always interesting to see how these details unfold

I just checked and same thing, my 2023 Polestar 2 also starts with YS.
