HomeLink chamberlain liftmaster not cooperating

Been trying to program my Chamberlain Liftmaster remote to my car's HomeLink, but it's not working. I know I have the security feature on the Liftmaster, so I've followed the instructions to the letter - pressing the "Learn" button and then the Liftmaster remote button within 3 inches. I've even tried doing it multiple times in a row, but no luck.

Has anyone else had trouble with this? Is there something I'm missing?

I’ve got a Liftmaster myself and recall diving into the Chamberlain manual for help. It was a bit of a gamble, but I got it right on the first go - talk about beginner’s luck!

To program your HomeLink for a rolling code garage door opener, first program the HomeLink button. Then, press the learn button on your garage door opener and repeatedly press and release the corresponding HomeLink button until it's paired.
