My VIN is not showing up when insuring a Polestar EV in California

I called my insurance company today to give them a heads-up about my Polestar EV, and they told me that my VIN doesn’t show up in their system!

Has anyone else in California run into this issue? Did your insurer eventually add it, or did you have to switch companies? Any recommendations for insurance providers that already recognize Polestar models? Just trying to avoid last-minute headaches before taking delivery.

Some insurers take weeks or months to update their VIN databases, and if they don’t support manual entry, you might be forced to switch providers. If your insurance company is struggling, I’d check with Polestar’s preferred partners or larger insurers like Progressive and State Farm, they usually list new models faster.

Just keep on bugging them for updates. But if you're on a tight timeline, maybe check out some of the bigger insurers as Ron mentioned, they tend to update their systems way quicker!
