I was checking my Polestar’s data storage today and noticed that 2.1GB is used, with Spotify taking up 1.6GB. It made me wonder. is there any way to play locally stored music files?

- USB ports don’t support data transfer, so no USB stick playback.
- No built-in way to download and store files from a browser for playback.
- AAOS music player apps might work, but I haven’t explored options yet.

I also want to test whether streaming services like Max allow local downloads for offline playback, as live streaming often struggles due to slow onboard internet. For now, I rely on my phone hotspot. Has anyone else experimented with storage and local playback? Any workarounds?

Lots of Polestar owners have the same question about playing their own music files! It's annoying that the USB ports are just for charging, so no easy USB stick playback. You can't just download music to the car and play it either. Using music apps on the car's system might work if you can get the files on there somehow (maybe through the cloud), but it's complicated. Testing if streaming services like Max let you play downloaded music offline is a good idea. Streaming can be slow in the car, so your phone's hotspot is usually better. You've already thought about the main problems, so check Polestar forums other owners might have found tricks to play their own music. Let everyone know if you find a solution!

Your best bet is to explore third-party apps that can handle local file playback. Try with VLC for Android. However, you need to have the files stored in a cloud.
